What's the difference between writing and SEO writing? What's SEO writing? A SEO would laugh at this question, but to the common Joe, this is an important question. I'm talking about the difference between SEO writing and general writing. For starters, there's a big difference and if you don't know what SEO stands for, it represents search engine optimization. SEO is a process that is used to increase your SERP value for your website. Correctly using SEO techniques can rank your website or blog high on search engines like Google, Yahoo, or Bing.

 

Now that you know what SEO represents, let's discuss SEO writing. SEO writing is a writing style that focuses on writing content for SEO purposes. One important aspect of SEO is keyword research. Another important aspect of SEO is keyword ranking. SEOs will research a group of keywords that are appropriate to your niche or content subject. The purpose of ranking for a keyword is to rank high in search engines for a specific keyword phrase. If it's done right, you're website can rank on the first page for your specific keyword groups.

 

Keyword research is very important to SEO writing because without it, there's no SEO writing. Your content will serve no purpose other then reader friendly information. In order to write in the style of SEO writing, a writer must know the correct keywords to place within the content. Any other type of writing is considered to be general writing in this aspect. Writing about the proper subject without using keywords is not SEO writing, it's niche writing.

 

SEO writing can be very beneficial to a website when done properly. Using your keyword properly in the content is also important. It's advised that your keyword density should be around 4-5% for best results. You also should make sure to use your keywords in your title, descriptions, tags, and paragraphs. Don't over use your keywords in the article, never use more then 3-4. It's always best to start your sentence with a keyword when possible. Use your best keywords first and follow with less relative keywords.

 

Anything other then SEO writing will be deemed as general writing in this article. General writing doesn't involve keyword research or aspects of SEO. If you're writing an article to a friend, it's general writing. The main concept that's misunderstood is the fact that SEO writing is not when you write about the subject manner, this again is niche writing. Most of us know what general writing is, many are confused when it's defined "SEO writing."

How To Add METADATA To Websites And Blogs

METADATA is an important aspect of SEO because it tells the search engines exactly what your website or blog is about. In hence, if not done correctly, you're missing an important aspect of SEO. Metadata can be added to your website in a variety of different ways. Many webmasters or SEOs choose to add metadata through code. In your HTML code, you can add meta titles, meta descriptions, meta keywords, and more meta information.

 

Since a large percentage of people use Wordpress, I'll use it for the next example. Wordpress has a great CMS where you're able to add content and metadata. We recently had a client that failed to add metadata to their young website and at no surprise, it wasn't doing well with ranks and traffic. Completing your metadata alone won't help your website or blog unless it's done correctly.

 

The META title in Wordpress should be exactly what your article is about. You should always include your keyword in the META title. You'll see this option in Wordpress below your content section. All your Metadata is in the SEO section. Your META description gives a longer defined section where you need to define what the article contains. Once again, be sure to use your keywords. The description should contain two or three keywords. If possible, start your META title and META description with keywords.

 

You'll also see a section to include META keywords. This area should include your major keywords. If you're not niche writing, be sure to include the most relative keywords for the specific article. The tags area is on the right side, this is where you can add less relative keywords. If you haven't researched your keywords, do so.

You can also add METADATA to products and images in Wordpress. Remember, bots can't see your pictures or products. If you have an E-Commerce website, this is crucial! Make sure you write an accurate description on the ALT IMG description. This way, the bots will be able to find the product or picture. This gives it the opportunity to appear in searches.

 

Since we use Blogger, I'll give you some information on how to apply METADATA to your blog in Blogger. In Blogger, you can add your META description through the settings section on the left navigation bar. In the basic setting, you'll see at the top of the page areas where a title can be added and a description. Make sure you accurately fill this out including your keywords. You can also add METADATA to your HTML code in the <head> section of the code.

One of the best free complete SEO tools online has to be SEO Group. SEO Group gives you the opportunity to conduct a free SEO evaluation on the website of your choice. Although this free tool doesn't check every SEO factor, it does evaluate most of the major issues of SEO. The graphics, data, and analysis from these SEO audit reports are very professional, certainly a great free SEO tool to use.

 

Web SEO Analyzer is one of the most complete free SEO online tools available. Web SEO Analyzer can review your links, keywords, SERPs, indexed pages, and much more. The upgraded version is a must have tool if you have the funds to purchase the software. If you don't, the great folks at Web SEO still gives you great reports on a website's SEO.

At Hale Associations, we found that one of the best free online complete SEO softwares is SEO Powersuite. SEO Powersuite has a variety of great free tools that you can download. This SEO software includes SEO Spyglass, which uses tools to see what your competition is doing. Link Assistant helps you create strong links with other webmasters. Buzz Bundle allows you to build a strong social media platform for clients. Website Auditor allows you check a site's links, page ranks, domain age, link values, and more. Rank Tracker gives you the tools to check your rankings and evaluate their progress.

 

If you choose the free version of SEO Powersuite, you'll only have limited access to these SEO tools, but their still very useful. The paid software gives you everything that you need to provide professional SEO services. You can create and save reports with the paid version, you can't with the free version. Even so, this is a great free SEO tool to use for anyone.



 

BEST FREE ONLINE SEO LINK ANALYSIS TOOLS    

 

The Moz Open Site Explorer is a popular online SEO tool that is well known and used. Open Site Explorer can be used to check the quality of your links and your link structure. You can use this SEO tool for free, but it only shows so many links at a time. Another great link checking tool is Majestic SEO. Majestic SEO is my favorite free SEO and link checker tool to use. You can only use this tool a few dozen times per day, but the free version gives a lot of great details on your links.

 

I use to recommend Google Webmasters Tools, but at this time, you can't rely on the information provided. I'm sure Google is trying to fix this, but at this time, you can count on the numbers. If you don't have the money to buy SEO software, try using multiple free SEO tools and combining the reports for a final report. I use to do this when I first started out and you can still provide great SEO services.

If you are an experienced web designer or know the basics of web programming, you've probably heard the term "META" at some point in time. The <meta> tag defined metadata about your html document. This data will not appear on your document or in browsers, but it's machine parsable. There's a variety of different meta tags that can be used in your script. Most common metadata elements include keywords, page description, author of page, and modified date. Remember, all meta tags must be included within the <head> tag.

This is a correct example of how to place meta tags in your script or code.

In HTML, the meta tag doesn't have to be closed. However, in XHTML, you will need to close the tag.



Some SEOs believe that there's no added value in metadata while others believe in it. We always advise our clients to use meta tags within their script or programming. The code above gives Google permission to index and read our HTML code. If you didn't want Google bots to read your website or index it, you'd add "no" to index and follow as you can see below.

If you're looking for a free web design software that has the ability to produce web pages, we've found a solid software for you to try. Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Dreamweaver CS6 are two of the top web designing software on the market. However, if you're wanting these programs, look for a price tag of $400 for Dreamweaver and $500 for Adobe Photoshop. If you have the money to invest in these two web design programs, be sure to get them. If you don't, I want you to give NVU.

 

I know price can determine a lot of things and at this current time, you may want to get into web design but you don't have enough money to buy the software. Perhaps, you're new to web design and you want a free web design software that gives you the opportunity to learn web design. Although NVU doesn't have the same features as Dreamweaver and Photoshop, it's a solid web design software that can create dynamic web pages.

 

NVU can also help you if you're trying to learn HTML and CSS coding. This NVU software generates code as you enter text and other elements on your web page. I haven't seen a split screen for coding on NVU as we see with Dreamweaver, but the source button does bring up your HTML codes. With NVU, you can add tables and images to your web page. You can change pixel sizes and adjust them to your liking. This is a great web design software to learn from, giving you the opportunity to learn the basics about web design.

 

We prefer Dreamweaver CS6 and Adobe Photoshop CS6 to everyone, we use this software professionally and personally. We score websites 0-100, 0 being the lowest SEO score possible and 100 being the highest. Richard Hale is proud to announce that Hale Associations will be launching a freelance website where freelancers and clients can work with one another, similar to websites such as Freelancer and Elance. We can't give too much detail at this time, but it's going to bring new opportunities to freelancers and clients, something the freelance world has never seen.

We wanted all freelancers and clients to be aware of the prelaunch. At this time, we don't have a time frame, but we expect it to be up and running within a few months.
